Plans for Equipment

Photo: Drawing of a Wedge How to Build a Wedge, RSA Workshop

  1. Materials Used:
    • Cardboard- 36" by 48"
    • Foam- 1/4" by 32" by 18"
    • Fabric or vinyl tablecloth for cover-- 52" by 60"
    • Tape- e.g. duct or strapping
    • Box Cutter type knife
  2. Directions:
    • Cut 18" off the long side of the cardboard giving two rectangles (a) 36" by 30" and (b) 36" by 18".
    • Cut the remaining large piece of cardboard (a) in half to get two pieces 18" by 30"
    • From the 30" side of (a1 and a2) make a light cut 6" from the edge. This cut should not go all the way through, it should just make it bend easier.
    • The section remaining (b) is 18" by 36". This will be used to make triangular braces.
    • Cut the long side of (b) at 13".
    • Divide the section (b1) into 3 portions measuring 6" by 23".
    • Discard the small rectangle (b2).
    • Divide these three rectangles in half making 6 triangles measuring 6" by 23".
  3. Putting it together:
    • Take the two large rectangles and bend them to form the wedge shape.
    • Place one on top and the other on the bottom.
    • Tape the 6" bends together.
    • The bottom piece will need to have 1" cut off to make the edges match evenly.
    • Place the 4 triangular braces inside the wedge to give it support, using tape to hold the pieces upright.
    • Place the remaining 2 triangular pieces on the ends of the wedge and tape to hold them in place.
    • Tape all sides firmly together.
    • Cover top and front of the wedge with foam, taping it in place.
    • Cover the whole wedge with plastic or fabric and tape it in place.
